Location Continued
When filming, the things that we needed to consider when filming in our location were:
Things you need to consider:
Are you legally allowed to film where you want to film?
Are there any other access restrictions? (Dates, times, permissions etc.)
Is it safe to film here?
Is it physically possible to achieve what you want to achieve at this location?
Does it suit the genre of the film?
Is it interesting enough?
Will lighting be an issue?
Is it a public thoroughfare?
Is there a lot of road traffic nearby?
Will noise be an issue?
Firstly, we were legally allowed to film in our location as our location was in a public road, however there are procedures you can use if you wanted to use private land such as asking the landowners permission or contacting the council to see if you are allowed to film there. The safety of the location that we are filming is safe however there is a risk of danger as one of our location is a rarely used road. The location we are currently using is possible to achieve what we want to achieve as our film is based in a school and one particular scene is set on a road off the school.
Following on from the location, it is possible to achieve what we want to achieve, the location does suit the genre (Drama) because it shows emotion and fits into the depressing nature of the story. Our location has no landmarks or interesting features apart from the school as we don't want to show anything exciting in Derek's life.
The lighting is not an issue for us as the film is set before and during school which means that there is plenty of light available. Our location is not a public thoroughfare as it is not a main road however it is a side road. As there is a main road by where are location is set, there will be frequent cars coming up and down the road. Finally noise shouldn't be a problem for our location as the setting is in a rural road however, its based within a secondary school which may have school kids running around the premises.
